Fiberglass/plastic hood

Ok....
On a fiberglass hood I have to use a nut behind the bolts that hold on the front latch.
How the hell do you do that?

The access between both bolt holes is hardly big enough for your finger and you definatly cant reach in far enough to get it on the bolt....

Its sealed except that small access oval but it has so many pinched areas that if your bolt slides anywhere your doomed. Plus the access hole there is rimmed up on top so its like a trap! lol

I just cant figure it out.

That all I need to do is put the latch on then my hood is ready to mount.

Trufiber Hoods

Hey US,

I'm a distributor of Trufiber hoods and they make a good product. One of the problems is paint shops
that don't know how to prep a fiberglass hood. Painting fiberglass is not the same as painting steel.
Proper block sanding is very important when it comes to painting fiberglass and using the right type of
primer and sealer. Some paint shops will blame the product and not the painter. I've attached some photos
of one of our customers that bought a TRUFIBER hood from us for his Shelby an our paint shop painted it.
They took 3 weeks to paint the hood and did a great shop. This Shelby has won three first place trophies in
Southern California in the modified Shelby class since the TRUFIBER hood was installed. TRUFIBER makes a
good product just make sure you take it to a knowledgeable paint shop that has experience in fiberglass.

It was not a trufiber hood. I ended up getting a deal on an aluminum one so
this hood is now sitting against my garage wall.....Im wondering what to do with it.

I have a feeling that it may have the internal nut but the threads were painted over leaving me to believe it didnt have it....I will check.

Well thats really nice to say without owning one. I have one and have had zero issues with fitment and painting. the shop that does my painting stated the my hood was one of the better ones they worked on. easy prep and paint.
